A Dance Ministry

Not Your Usual Studio

The Deseret Dancer Company began in 1996 under the direction of Dawn Freeman as a non-profit ministry providing free dance lessons, recitals, and competition to those in need and those who desire an environment based on family values, integrity, and faith.  Ms. Dawn is able to continue the ministry through the kind sponsorship of the First United Methodist Church of Quitman along with the many volunteers who give of not only their time but their heart.

There is no cost for lessons, and the cost of costumes, shoes, and necessities are provided free of charge.  Necessities are covered by Ms. Dawn and the donations of others as a heartfelt gift for those who want to dance.

With Deseret Dance, rigorous practice sessions are used to teach proper dance techniques not only for fun, but for the future in gaining scholarships and careers.  Students learn perseverance, discipline, the quality core of dance, leadership, teamwork, accountability, and how to let their light shine for the world.

In addition, modesty is valued along with clean music, and a family environment. We believe that our Savior, even Jesus Christ lives, and loves us, we advocate prayer, and healthy relationships not only with Heavenly Father but with each other.

We are a dance family, and we thank Heavenly Father for the privilege of this ministry. This year in particular, the work involved has been an enormous undertaking, and The Deseret Dance Company became Grand Champion Banner Award winners at regional competition They battle school schedules giving blood, sweat and tears for this dream. We truly hope join us and feel the spirit of the miracles this group has performed.

Team Effort

Behind every class at The Deseret Dance Company is a team of servant-hearted leaders, instructors, and volunteers who see dance as a way to change lives. Our director Ms. Dawn prayerfully guides the ministry’s vision, ensuring that every rehearsal and performance reflects our commitment to modesty, excellence, and Christlike love. Ms. Dawn, with over 30 years of experience, donates her time and professional training to teach solid technique while mentoring students in perseverance, discipline, and confidence. Faithful volunteers quietly handle everything from costuming and shoes to transportation and backstage support, making it possible for every child to participate—regardless of their family’s financial situation. Together, this dedicated team creates a safe, family-friendly environment where youth are known by name, encouraged in their gifts, and equipped with skills that open doors to future scholarships, careers, and lifelong character.
